Community Guidelines

ZipYell members can rate places, give a thumbs up or down and leave comments about areas, postal codes and places. These guidelines keep feedback helpful, honest and safe for everyone.

Be helpful

  • Share your own experience of the place — what it is like to live in, visit, deliver to or do business in.
  • Be specific and fair. Negative opinions are welcome when they are honest and respectful.
  • Stay on topic: feedback should be about the place or code on that page.

Plain text only

To protect members from spam and scams, comments must be plain text. A comment cannot be posted if it contains:

  • links or web addresses (including "example dot com" style addresses);
  • e-mail addresses;
  • phone numbers or messaging handles.

Not allowed

  • Spam and promotion: advertising, sales offers, "contact me", referral codes, SEO text or promoting your own or anyone's business.
  • Gambling, casino, betting, adult or sexual content, and profanity or vulgar language.
  • Hate and harassment: attacks on people or groups based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics; threats, bullying or insults.
  • Private information about anyone — names with addresses, phone numbers, vehicle plates and similar.
  • Fake feedback: rating places you do not know, using several accounts, coordinated or paid ratings, or rating to harm a competitor.
  • Illegal content or content that encourages illegal or dangerous activity.
  • Misinformation presented as fact, such as false claims about postal services or official procedures.

Usernames and avatars

Usernames may contain only letters (a–z) and numbers (0–9), must start with a capital letter (for example CityWalker or Ali2026) and must not contain web addresses, impersonate others or be offensive. Only your username and Gravatar picture are shown publicly — never your real name or e-mail address.

Limits

Each member can rate up to 10 places in any 24 hours. Posting very fast, repeating the same text or using several accounts will hold your feedback for review or block it.

Reporting

Use the "Report" link on any comment that breaks these guidelines. Please do not reply to abuse in comments — report it and let us handle it.

Enforcement

We may remove content, hold it for review, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these guidelines, depending on how serious and repeated the problem is. Spam accounts are closed without warning. We record information such as IP addresses and activity patterns to detect abuse, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
