Review Policy

This policy explains how ZipYell handles ratings, likes and dislikes, comments, reports and other submissions, so that feedback stays honest and useful.

Who can leave feedback

Ratings, likes/dislikes and comments can be left only by registered members who have verified their e-mail address. Each member can give one star rating and one like or dislike per page, and can change them later.

Limits that keep ratings fair

  • A member can rate at most 10 places in any 24 hours.
  • Comments are limited in number and length, and must be plain text.
  • Our systems watch for unusual patterns — many ratings in a short time, many accounts from one connection, repeated text — and hold or discard suspicious activity.

Automatic checks

Before a comment is accepted it is checked automatically. Comments containing links, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, promotional or commercial text, gambling, adult or abusive content are refused. Comments that look unusual may be held for manual review before they appear.

What we remove

We remove feedback that breaks our Community Guidelines, including spam, advertising, fake or paid reviews, conflicts of interest (for example rating a place to promote your own business), personal information about others, hate speech, harassment and illegal content. We do not remove feedback simply because it is negative.

Reports

Every comment has a "Report" link. Reported comments are reviewed by our team; comments that receive several reports may be hidden until reviewed. If your comment was removed and you think this was a mistake, contact us.

No paid or incentivised feedback

We never pay for ratings or comments, do not let anyone pay to change or remove them, and do not offer rewards for positive feedback.

Other submissions

Data corrections, photo and video suggestions and removal requests sent through our contact form are reviewed by a person before any change is made, as described in our Editorial Policy.

How scores are shown

The star score on a page is the simple average of members' star ratings, shown with the number of ratings. Likes and dislikes are shown as totals. Removed feedback no longer counts.
